Why keywords matter
Most large employers and job portals in India filter applications by keywords. Recruiters search Naukri, LinkedIn and their own applicant tracking systems for the skills and job titles in the job description, and many systems rank resumes by how well they match. A strong candidate can be skipped simply because the resume says “made reports” when the job asks for “Power BI”.
How the checker works
We look for more than 120 skills, tools and business skills in both texts, using the same skill list that tags the jobs on Jobs Hindustan, plus skills such as Tally and GST. The patterns are careful with names like C++, C#, .NET and Java vs JavaScript. Your score is the share of the job’s skills that your resume mentions. We also list other words and phrases the job description repeats that your resume doesn’t use.
Using the results well
- Add a missing skill only if you really have it, and show it with a result: “Automated monthly GST reconciliation in Excel, saving two days of work.”
- Use the employer’s wording where it is honest to do so, and keep the same skills in your Naukri and LinkedIn profiles.
- Freshers can show skills through projects, internships and certifications.
- Use a simple layout without tables or text inside images so the system can read it.
