What this checks
For every employer we track we show the official careers system its jobs come from, the number of openings in India we found there today, and the email domains the company uses (we have verified domains for 101 of them). When you enter a recruiter’s address, we compare the part after the @ with those domains, with the hiring systems big employers use to send automatic emails (such as Workday, Greenhouse, Lever and SmartRecruiters), and with job portals such as Naukri and LinkedIn.
- Personal addresses (Gmail, Yahoo, Rediff, Outlook and similar) are flagged as high risk. Large employers do not send offer letters from them.
- Look-alike domains that use the company’s name but are not its real domain, such as company-careers.in or companyjobs.co, are flagged as high risk.
- Hiring systems and job portals are shown as information: genuine messages often come through them, but always confirm the job on the employer’s own site.
What it cannot check
The “From” address of an email can be forged, so a matching domain is not proof on its own. Check the reply-to address, never pay any fee, and never share an OTP. Placement consultancies often write from their own domains; that is normal, but ask which company the job is with and find it on that company’s careers site. Our list only covers employers we track, so a company missing here can still be genuine.
